Board of Directors Meeting MinutesTuesday, May 19, 2009 Present: Pat Teal, Julie Duke, Bonnie Bolster, Marion Huxtable,Marcia Rinaldi, Lynn Gressley The minutes of the April meeting were approved Public AccessLynn reported that he sent an email to City Attorney John Watts to get an opinion on the lights on bicycles issue and to determine the state of current enforcement. A meeting will be requested if he doesn’t respond shortly. Several members of the Board plan to survey the sandwich boards downtown to examine accessibility hazards. Pictures and a detailed report will be developed. Marion agreed to check with the Visitor’s Center to find out if our maps and brochures are available there and to ask if our material can be distributed to other locations by the Chamber staff. Marcia agreed to check the Visitor’s Center on Beaver Valley Road at S. R. 104 to see if our brochures are available. The Board approved expenditure of $150 to produce Braille and large print menus for two restaurants to compliment the two restaurant menus for which the Jefferson County Council of the Blind have funded. Marcia agreed to contact local service clubs to see if they would be willing to donate for additional accessible menus. The Silverwater Café and Fiesta Jalisco were proposed as possible accessible menu locations. Treasury/FundraisingJulie reported that the current fund balance is $3150. This does not reflect the expenditures of $471 for April Event advertising. Lynn reported that the 2009 UGN application has been submitted and we await their decision. The organization currently has a fund balance with Jill Beaumont, our web master of $223. We need to consider replenishing this fund in the not-to-distant future. The meeting was adjourned at 1:40 pm. Next meeting, June, 9, Noon to 2:00 in the Card Room of the Uptown Community Center. |
