Board of Directors Meeting MinutesDecember 9, 2008 Present:Pat Teal, Sue Ammeter, Marion Huxtable, Liz Roca, Lynn Gressley Minutes of the October meeting were approved. Public AccessThe Access Committee initiated its evaluation of Jefferson Health Care by visiting Port Townsend Family Physicians. The plan is to evaluate the out-patient clinics first and then the main hospital. A completed report will be provided to the Health Care Board of Trustees. Marion reported that she contacted Ken Clow regarding signage for the new bicycle safety ordinance. Both DASH and the Non-Motorized Transportation Board recommend that signage be positive and preferably that signs are embedded in the sidewalk in all areas covered by the Ordinance. Lynn reported that he had contacted Kevin Van Dewege’s office to request sponsorship of a change in State law regarding the requirement of lights on bicycles. The recommendation is for requiring lights under all nighttime’s circumstances. No response has been received and Sue suggested that DASH contact Lynn Kessler regarding this matter. Marion mentioned that DASH’s concerns had been submitted to the Highway 19/20 Corridor working group and the process towards developing a final plan for submission to the State DOT is moving forward. The Emergency Preparation for People with Disabilities classes are scheduled to begin on January 23 and will continue weekly for six weeks. Anyone is interested in signing up for the classes can contact Anna Mcenery at the Department of Health. Sue offered to provide a supply of toiletries and will bring them to the next meeting for sorting and inclusion in the Togo bags which will be given to the class participants. Pat and Sue agreed to contact dental offices for donations. Marion will gather a list of organizations and support groups to send the flier for the classes. Sue suggested that DASH make a tangible donation to the Togo bags. The Board approved unanimously the expenditure of funds to purchase 25 emergency radios at the lowest price possible and not to exceed $20 per radio. Treasury/FundraisingIn the absence of the Treasurer, Lynn reported that the current fund balance is $3059.67 which includes the last payment of $1000 from the Norcliffe Foundation.
