Return to Dash Minutes Page Disability Awareness Starts Here (DASH)Board of Directors Meeting MinutesTuesday, September 8, 2009 Acceptance of MinutesThe minutes of the August meeting were approved. Public AccessMarion reported on the community open house for the WashDOT 19/20 Corridor Plan recommendations. The recommendations focused exclusively on vehicular transit improvements to the exclusion of any physical modifications which would benefit pedestrians, public transit riders or other non-motorized means of travel. The Smart Trips concept, although acknowledged by WashDOT, was not included as a recommendation. The Board decided to reinforce our concerns by amending our list of recommendations submitted in April to a short, bulleted list which would be sent to all concerned in the County and at WashDOT. Treasury/FundraisingJulie reported that the current fund balance is $2343.41. The yearly fee for the Post Office Box needs to be paid by the end of September. New BusinessIn order to begin the process of updating the Accessible Restaurant Brochure, we will first gather a list of new restaurants established since 2005 and begin a re-evaluation of restaurants already in the brochure. The Board recommended that a request be made that DASH Map info be included on the NMTB Biking Map. Lynn said that he will contact the Silverwater restaurant to determine if their menu is in electronic form. If so, this would expedite the process of creating a Braille and large print version. The plan is to hold the first meeting of the Disability For A Day planning committee on the second Wednesday of October. Outside CommitteePat reported that she has been re-appointed to the Housing Authority Board. She also mentioned that the NMTB will be holding an open meeting to take comment on the Plan Update. The meeting will be held on the second Thursday in October. The meeting was adjourned at 1:46 p.m. Next meeting, first Tuesday, October 6 from Noon to 2:00 in the Community Center Card Room. |
