Board of Directors Meeting Minutes
Second Annual Meeting
Tuesday, July 10, 2007
Present: Alan Sartin (guest), Pat Teal, Julie Duke, Sue Ammeter, Kay Harper, Kaheya Cunningham, Lynn Gressley
The minutes of the June Board meeting were approved.
Alan Sartin described his role as Director of Facilities Management for Jefferson County and his additional role as County ADA Coordinator. He said that since the County adopted its ADA Grievance Procedure he has not received an official complaint. Board members expressed concern about several access issues in County facilities. Alan said that he has not received inquiries about the problems at Memorial Field and the Courthouse but that he would look into them if he gets a written list from us. In response to a question from Lynn, Alan said that he recognizes that the County’s web site needs to be made more user friendly but that it is difficult finding the staff resources and time to make the changes.
The Board approved the re-appointment of Kaheya Cunningham and Kay Harper to new two year terms as members of the Board of Directors.
Committee Reports
Public Access
The Committee is attempting to organize the evaluation of points of refuge in Jefferson County which have been developed by the Red Cross and Jefferson County Emergency Management. In addition, we are still working with the Emergency Preparedness for People with Disabilities Committee under the auspices of the Jefferson Public Health Department. That committee is currently working on a curriculum for people with disabilities which would provide training on emergency preparedness issues.
Fundraising/Treasurer
The current fund balance is $668.11. In addition, United Good Neighbors of Jefferson County has awarded DASH $400 for the up-coming fiscal year.
The Fundraising Committee will develop summaries of foundation criteria for Board consideration at the next meeting. In addition, an in- depth discussion of funding ideas for specific budget line items will be held.
Outside Committee Work
Non-Motorized-Pat reported that the focus of the Committee has been on roundabouts and bicycles.
Disability Advisory Committee for Voting- Donna Eldridge will be bringing the County’s accessible voting machine to the next Board meeting. Those Board members who wish to vote on the machine should bring their ballot to the next meeting.
