Board of Directors Meeting Minutes

Present: Bonnie Bolster, Marion Huxtable, Lynn Gressley, Kaheya Cunningham

The minutes of the May meeting were approved

Public Access

Regarding the issue of the legal requirement of lights on bicycles, Lynn reported that he is in touch with City Attorney John Watts and will discuss the issue with him more completely in the near future. Marion suggested that a face-to-face meeting with him would be preferable. Lynn agreed to approach Mr. Watts with this idea

Lynn reported that he will contact Cathy Jarvis to determine how much work is involved in transcribing restaurant menus into a form that can be Brailed. Since this is the major cost of the process, we will attempt to find a way to maximize the number of restaurants that can be represented by the funds that DASH has appropriated for menus.

The Board approved submitting photos and a letter to the City Council emphasizing the importance of adequate pedestrian access amid the clutter of sandwich board signs in the Downtown area. Since the City is reviewing the entire issue of signage, we want the particularly problematic locations to be noted..

Treasury/Fundraising

Lynn reported that the current fund balance is $2,648.96.

New Business

The Board approved the reappointment of Directors Kaheya Cunningham and Sue Ammeter for new two year terms.

Marion agreed to organize with Jill Beaumont, our web master, the update to the DASH web site to reflect comments and photos from this year’s Event. We also agreed to develop a new section of the site to reflect current news items of interest to people with disabilities.

Outside Committee Work

Kaheya reported on the Goldendale outreach meeting of the GCDIE which she said was an excellent meeting with a great deal of interest.

The meeting was adjourned at 2:00 pm.
