Board of Directors Annual Meeting Minutes

Present: Sue Ammeter, Kaheya Cunningham, Bonnie Bolster, Lynn Gressley

Acceptance of Minutes

The minutes of the May meeting were approved.

Public Access

The Board’s focus on Hospital access issues resulted in a meeting between DASH, City, Hospital and Walkable and Livable Communities Institute members to discuss how all parties can work together to create positive changes. Lynn reported that the City is applying for additional Safe Routes to School funds to cover sidewalks on Sheridan from Sims to 14th Street. In addition, Paula Dowdle, CAO of JHC, extended an invitation to Kirby Hollingsworth of WALC to attend Jefferson Healthcare’s forthcoming meeting with the engineering and planning firm hired by Jefferson Healthcare for campus improvements. The event date and time is TBA, but tentatively scheduled for some time in June.

The Board reached consensus that the step of filing a Section 504 complaint with the Department of Health and Human Services will be withheld until September, at the earliest, in order to give the Hospital an opportunity to make concrete and time-sensitive proposals for pedestrian access improvements.

Bonnie agreed to contact an investigator at HHS to get more detail on the nature of the fact-finding process.

Treasury/Fundraising  

Current balance is $1990.92.

Board Elections

Sue proposed and Kaheya seconded the nominations of Julie Duke, Pat Teal, Bonnie Bolster, Marion Huxtable and Lynn Gressley for new two year terms as Directors. All nominees were elected unanimously.

Kaheya nominated Lynn for a new two year term as President. Election was unanimous. Lynn nominated Bonnie as Secretary/Treasurer and she was elected unanimously. Pat Teal was nominated by Bonnie for a new term as Vise President. She was approved unanimously.

The meeting was adjourned at 2:08 pm.

Next meeting, Tuesday, July 6, 2010 from Noon to 2:00 in the Uptown Community Center Card Room.
