DASH Board Meeting NotesFebruary 13, 2007First Federal Savings and LoanWho was there Guest Owen Fairbank spoke to the board on behalf of the non-motorized transportation committee. Owen shared with the board the non-motorized plan from 1998. The non-motorized group is looking for input from DASH as they begin to update and make a new plan and vision. Items that were pointed out were connectivity of Port Townsend; better access from Safeway to the Larry Scott trail and improved sidewalk maintenance. Lynn also pointed out that Upper Sims Way plan and round-abouts is very hard on the visually impaired. There was a recommendation to talk with people in Sequim regarding their round-abouts and how they work for these folks. Committee Reports
Public Access The committee met with Jim Todd and Marion Huxtable regarding the non-motorized committee. Please see above section regarding DASH recommendations to the board. The accessible disability map was passed around to the board for perusal. It is complete and looks wonderful! Copies will be printed very soon. Education Committee No report.
Event Planning Committee The Committee will meet tomorrow. The plan is for the Event to take place at the Port Townsend High School and some other uptown venues. Students from both Port Townsend and Chimacum will be involved. Mark Welch has said the video from the 2006 Event is ready to go. Lesa is working with him to pick it up. It was discussed if the Poetic Justice theater troupe would do a performance during disability month in conjunction with DASH. Julie will talk with Annod to see if she would be interested in doing publicity if the Board decides to participate in this endeavor again. There was also discussion if the board would want a DASH information table at the P.T. Shorts performances. Leslie again offered People First PTTV airtime to run the video of last year’s event when it is released. Reports from Outside Committee WorkHousing Authority Pat reported that the authority is unable to help as many people as in the past due to rising heat cost. This lowers the number of Section 8 housing units. Other Announcements:Four members from DASH attended the Emergency Preparedness meeting at the health department. With assistance from DASH the Red Cross is evaluating its designated shelters to see if they are accessible.
