Disability for a Day event~setting up

DASH’s 8th Annual "Assume-a-Disability Event”

Disability for a Day focused on access at Jefferson HealthCare, a true nightmare for people with disabilities and for all transit users. After getting off the bus, the lack of sidewalks, parked cars, barriers and ditches turn a short walk of a block or two into an obstacle course. It is, in fact, impossible to find a safe route to the main entrance. Following our event, DASH is now working with the city on new sidewalk projects along Sheridan Street between the transit stops on 7th and 10th Street. It remains to be seen if the hospital will add accessible pathways to link up with new sidewalks.
